Unlocking light through our Dynamic Holography Platform
We are dedicated to realizing the full potential of augmented reality head-up displays (AR HUD) through breakthrough technologies and applications. A revolutionary approach to creating head-up display images, melding proprietary algorithms with simpler, fewer, and more robust optics to create holographic displays. Our technology is able to deliver greater magnification, superior image quality, and images displayed at multiple distances simultaneously.
Envisics’ technology is highly efficient, using less than 10% of the optical power of conventional systems technologies.
With its patented algorithms and high magnification designs, Envisics’s technology redistributes the light to precisely where and when it is needed. All light control elements on the holographic modulator contribute to every point in the image it creates. With greater efficiency, durability, and longevity, this is a key technology for the fast-growing automotive AR HUD market.

Applying First Principles
Computer-generated holography recreates a viewing experience from first principles. When we view an object in our daily lives, the ambient light reflects from the objects and this reflection is a unique collection of the wavelets that our eyes are able to reconstruct and identify the object, its color, its depth, among other features. From Huygens principle we know that these wavelets can be combined to form larger wavefronts. Computer-generated holography calculates an interference pattern, known as a hologram. When light is shown through this hologram it will diffract through it and form the wavefront that the eye interprets as the intended object at the required depth. A holographic modulator is used to recreate the hologram pattern and when a coherent light source passes through it, a virtual image is observed.

Multiple Planes and Focused Imagery
Envisics’ Dynamic Holography Platform delivers augmented reality imagery – on multiple planes and at different distances – simultaneously. It adapts instantly to ambient light changes, enhancing the view of the road ahead. Day and night. Rain and shine. Distortion is undetectable – just seamless, crystal-clear imagery layered on to the real world.

Designed to be more adaptable
Our Dynamic Holography Platform has been engineered mindful of size and flexibility and can be adapted to fit across different vehicle platforms and individual models. This flexibility is key given the packaging challenges in a modern vehicle where cross-car beams, steering gear, instrument clusters, ventilation and air conditioning systems all fight for space. Ultra-high magnification enables a wide field of view from a compact package, making it suitable for vehicles of all sizes from all corners of the world.

Richer imagery with lower energy consumption
By harnessing and controlling lasers, our technology generates imagery with unmatched levels of clarity, depth, and color saturation. Envisics-powered HUDs deliver outstanding image quality for a safer and more enhanced user experience. Conventional display technologies absorb light and create heat. Our thermally efficient designs help us realize even smaller packaging. An Envisics-enabled HUD has greater brightness and consumes less power. We focus on delivering light only when and where it is required.

Greater personalization
Automakers can create different cockpit environments, matching augmented reality experiences to a specific model and, in the near future, to individual driver and passenger preferences. More than ever, driver and passenger experience – and the ability to personalize – is how automakers seek to create brand distinction and unique user experiences.

Envisics research and development focus
Envisics’ research and development is tackling holography on three fronts: material science, modulation hardware, and silicon technology and chip design. The modulation component ensures the diffraction occurs as effectively as possible and helps depict the image as clearly as possible. Envisics have partnered with Intel to help develop a computational engine that more efficiently calculates holograms with a focus on reducing power consumption delivering rapid high-fidelity real-time processing. The final area of interest is algorithm generation and software development.
